Welcome to the forum, Mark!

Canada has had some very good top players since the early 2000s (Justin and Pico from the Yoperation group) and it was time one finally competed!

Really looking forward to meeting you in a few days.

Hi Mark.  Good to have you here.  I saw a number of Toronto Yo-Yo group shirts at Cleveland for the last world championships.  Were you there for that?  I had some good conversations with a couple different guys and talked to them about Jack.  Seemed like all the TYY guys were pretty cool.  I look forward to seeing your group again!!

Hey likewise Jorge! Really nice reception. And yes I actually do know Justin and likely Pico from the Yoperation group in the early 2000s, where we'd compete in top spinning against each other in Montreal back in the day, around the corner from Le Valet d'Coeur game shop that sold tops and return tops (still there today!).

the Earl of Whirl cheers! I wasn't in Cleveland in 2016 actually, I try to not mention this often but I had a major head injury in June of 2016 that kept me off work for several months (and away from Cleveland unfortunately). A few of the YoYoToronto people will be there again, not sure whom you were referring to, I know Wayne Ngan is going and he was there in 2016 (and spins tops too). I think Yeti is also going, Yeti's been involved with return tops and maybe tops for likely a couple of decades now, at least certainly in the Canada and Toronto scene. Mason Lee is going for the final day; first timers will be Tony Sung for 5A, Sammy Park for 2A, and Jacky Le for hanging out and showing/teaching us all his insane 1A tricks lol. Should be great. And looking forward to meeting you as well!

I'm not sure, as I am flying in this year.  I hadn't thought about it, actually....

Thanks to Jakub who sent it by DHL at his own expense, the Jim Boehm corkscrew trophy will be up for grabs at Worlds.

Last time there was a corkscrew competition (in Iceland) we changed the format (fastest 3 consecutive 5-wrap corkscrews from one throw, if I recall correctly) but this year we will probably go back to most wraps in one throw.

Got medals for those coming, including 1st, 2nd and 3rd for the Sport Division: if you don't freestyle (and you haven't in the past), you should try the Sport trick list. It would be out of the stage, so no pressure.

Love the trophy -- classic Boehm whimsy on display!

Can't see if there are symmetrical holes in the far side of the rotor. Does it spin well as a finger or palm top?

Wondering if there would be any interest in a workshop on maintenance, modding, etc. at Worlds or Whirled, and anyone who would be willing to share their knowledge and skills.

These are old photos:

It's a palm top, but the idea is that it can only be spun if it has a cork, so you are required to open a bottle first!  ;D
