Hello folks! 

Guess what?
I finally landed a boomerang!
It's all thanks to the great advice of you all,  and the gift I got from Larry D. 
With a modern shaped top, a Saturno Xtreme,  it was much easier.
after a few minutes practicing outside in  my garden, on the grass, I understood the technique.
After what seems like 15 minutes  (after I got a close call sometimes ) I landed a short-lived boomerang.
It bounced off my hand,  before I could correct it.  But the moment was amazing   
Im really hooked!  Laughed out loud,  and my cats all looking funny at me,  like 'something wrong? '.
What also really helped,  is the video from Mark Hayward.
He's also left handed! 

I'll going to practice and have fun, and update my progress right here.

Congratulations Hydrona!!!  We all knew you could do it.  Good job hanging in there and not giving up. I also enjoyed watching the Mark Hayward video.  I have not seen that one.

Yes!

I landed it again,  this time , it kept spinning for a long time. 
So long , I could correct it,  look at it,  and feel it  !
The top spinning on my hand is an amazing feeling.
it's like Kevinm said : it's almost like you have a living thing in the palm of your hand.
It's  like a new door opens up for me.

Doing a boomerang you will be a spintop EXPERT in the eyes of any non player! 

That tutorial from Mark is nice and has great production quality. I just learned something from it: a different way of doing the skyrocket!  I always wrapped the string around the top with my throwing hand, then let the string from my non-throwing hand fall across the string and pulled up with my throwing hand. Mark's simpler: you wrapped with your non-throwing hand, let the string fall and pull with your throwing hand. Back to basics!  By the way, Mark does a perfect Vulcan Salute for that big scoop. I'm not much of a Trekkie so I place the top between my index and middle finger instead.

My mom was suprised by how fast I learned it! 
But she does not doubt it , that I am a fast learner .
And thanks to you all, the folks that never let me down, I see my future as a spin top player 
After all this time of practice and failure,   I did it,  and I'm proud of myself ! Giving up is not an option!

Also Mark is left handed, but he scoops with his right hand.  When I (right handed)do a left hand scoop I use my pinkie finger.

If you can do it with someone watching, that means you got it!
You will have a bunch of fun with the newer tops. Now it’s time for you to start becoming a string snob, get some custom strings and you will be set!
The 3 phases of learning a trick are,
1: do it 1 time   2: do it with your mouth closed    3: do it with someone watching.
If you did all that, it’s yours.
