Let's propose names for the future association. When we have enough I'll open a poll.
Here are some examples:

ITSA: International Top Spinners Association _ This is Watts' old association name. I say it is pretty good, at least for the player's part.

SPIN: Spintop Players InterNational _ Self-referencing acronym.

IFSP: International Federation of Spintop Players _ Although it wouldn't be a true federation at this time, it could become one in the future

IASTA: International Association of Spinning Top Arts [/b] _ More encompassing

AIT: Association Internationale de la Toupie = Asociación Internacional del Trompo = International Association of Topspinning  _ Multilingual

Using just Spinning Top instead of Top Spinners or Top Players would include collectors, etc., what could be good.

Using the word World is like staking a claim to be the preeminent association in the world. We do aspire to become that. On the other hand it may feel like bullying by clubs or associations already in existence around the world (e.g. Malaysia).

All I see is word play.  I don't believe POT-SIN is true, but a few states have gotten behind POTS-IN 

I do like the formal name ITSA stands for, but the saying the acronym makes me think ITSA (It's a ) what? A thing? A who? Or is it one of those self referencing name?  It's a(n)  ITSA.

Ok. We need to get serious soon. But I feel there must be a name we are missing that would be great.  So I'll give it another try to see if the creation juices flow.

What about: Spin Top Organization of Players:  STOP ? Nope.

World Organization of Whirling: WOW !

FIT:  Fédération Internationale de la Toupie = Federación Internacional del Trompo = International Federation of Topspinning

Actually, the name does not necessary have to be an acronym. For example, it could be just the Latin for spinning top: TURBO.

the T can match trompo top toupie and trottolla as well

I created the ITSA (International Top Spinners Association) with the hope of doing something very similar to what you have here.

I would be honored to see ITSA have new life because it needs to be much bigger than just me.... :-)

So, ITSA and International Top Spinners Association is open and available if you wish to use it.

I never got the domain name itsa.org though.

I do have one that could be useful....

Thanks a lot Byron for giving us permission to use the ITSA name. It is no doubt a finalist. Also spinningtops.org could well be a domain to use. I had also reserved iSpinTop.com for that possible use.

Tops of the World is growing on me. It lacks the explicit mention of an association or a sport, but on the other hand it includes everything and has an uplifting connotation.
But people (at least in the US) will want to abbreviate it to TOTW or TW. Now, in many languages, the letter M is the initial for "world" (e.g., monde, mundo, etc) and the M is like a W upside down. Perhaps TW/M could be worked out into a logo or patch. Furthermore, if you put the W sidewise it looks like the Greek capital letter Sigma, which in math is used as the symbol of summation. And we want to be the sum of the spintop culture around the world . . .

Mm, in Latin: Summa Turbo
