As a group, these must have been the best freestyles ever! It is a pity they only had 2 minutes, because their skill deserved more time. Jakub is 20 yrs. old, Tyler 16, Daniel and Jan only 15: this is the spintop future.
Jan was 4th just because he had such tough competition. But his freestyle would had placed in the podium in most contests I can think of and he would have won several.
Tyler's freestyle was almost flawless. I love his relaxed style, even singing to the music. That freestyle could have won anywhere. It was similar to the one he did a Czech nats, which I thought was one of the most innovative freestyles I had seen in a long time. But he added stuff like the triangle suns. If he can make it to US Nationals, I don't think he can be stopped from being the new US champion.
Jakub as always was excellent. It is a pity that there are like 10 seconds missing in his freestyle because of a problem with the live stream. I thought that the opening spectacular corkscrew with so little string left was too risky. I loved the cool (double) whips. Jakub put Czech spintop on the map several years ago and now they are a spintop superpower.
What can I say about Daniel, that was dynamite. We already knew that it was a matter of time for little hippo to become a giant one and start winning championships. It was just a matter of landing those pirouettes and around the body trapezes.
On a personal note, it was also nice to see all 4 trying the Staircase to Heaven. But when Daniel started to set the upside down corkscrew, he got me opening my mouth and then cheering at the computer! I had never seen anybody else do it on stage since I last tried it at US Nats 2006.
