Any snake charmers here?
Any snake charmers here?
I got a Cometa Cobra Jumbo top, it’s pretty nice, but the string is too thick. Any kind of wire walking trick results in it losing spin immediately . I tried a thinner string and it helps quite a bit, but it still does not wire walk like you would expect with the fast spin and weight of the top. Any tips on getting better handling with the Cobra?
Re: Any snake charmers here?
My Cobra Jumbo is somewhere in a box.
But most of the secret of how good a top walks is in the tip. If the neck is narrow it will walk slow. Thinner string will help in grabbing the neck, but geometry dictates the maximum walking speed (given by the circumference of the neck times the RPM).
Heavy weight will make the start of the walk more difficult. But if it walks slow you need mass to keep it going long enough.
My modded HPs have narrow necks and walk slooow. But from a strong boomerang can still do Staircase to Heaven.

The tip is skinny for sure. Picture sent, cuz I don’t know how to post images.
Thanks guys.
Neff suggested the tip might be a little rough, and upon inspection it was. I worked on it with a little sandpaper and steel wool and it does much better now.

When you are writing a post look for "Add image to post" just below the text box.kevinm wrote: Picture sent, cuz I don’t know how to post images.
Then follow the instructions. Easier than the old method.

Yes you're correct about the thickness of the string that comes with the Jumbo Cobra. A thinner string is needed for decent wire walkers as the tip of the Jumbo Cobra is narrow in size closer to that of a Spintastics custom Salvador tip. and then when doing wire walkers with thinner string if you angle the string slightly downward some the top should glide to your hand better...kevinm wrote: I got a Cometa Cobra Jumbo top, it’s pretty nice, but the string is too thick. Yeah it was either that or a cat pic, I was just trying to follow ta0’s instructions to see if I could post an image.
