3-D printed whistling launcher top
Re: 3-D printed whistling launcher top
Great find, Renee!
I was planning to experiment with 3D printed humming tops one day. It would had been a game changer for the contest Jim once had: chanting - humming top contest.
I checked the Wikipedia article mentioned. It's very technical but seems to have great info. I need to read it when I have time.

Interesting video. I might enjoy making a top that hums if it's easy enough. It probably isn't though. I am afraid once you make a humming top a lot of people will only focus on whether any subsequent top you make will hum or not. I think for a small kid that sees and hears a humming top any other tops are now ordinary silent tops.
I googled the Thai Bamboo Whistling top he showed because I couldn't see the holes and found this:

A musician could do tops with the notes. Humming it an covered to mute. And lifting the covers, play a song.
