My RGB PCB is 1.9" in diameter so your opening must be at least 2".
I would caution the use of PLA for something that needs to be impact resistant. It's a harder material with less flex so might not due well in the long run.
It also does not due well with heat so don't leave it in the car during summer.
They make new PLAs that are stronger but I still don't think they match ABS and PETG.
