10 inch hdpe John Markus top

Post by Daveid »

I think in other posts i may have mentioned that making my string/superglue tops off of hdpe forms that johnm sends me is incredibly easy compared to any other method i ever used...
Well,
Words can't express how much awesome:

I seriously have been breaking out in hysterical giggles every half hour or so just remembering the awesome thing sitting next to me.

In the past the amazing things I've gotten from johnm come without having been finished with a tip so i can just plug a matching bolt into the threads for making my tops off of them, these newest two (10 inch and 6 inch) came finished and with a tip and a delrin insert to replace the tips for the purposes of making my tops off of the form.
the note accompanying these included stats:
6 inch:
With tip installed, overall height = 7.34 inch, maximum diameter = 5.97 inch, weight = 1.68 lbs.

10 inch:
With tip installed, overall height = 11.9 inches, maximum diameter = 9.8 inches, weight = 5.05 lbs.

Where's the infinite thank you emoji?

Thanks, It's really quite smooth of a top, it was raining and the rope didn't care for the water... the top was great though, slick in the rain it spun in hand a lot longer than it would have and catching it it slides a little, rain play i think would be very fun if i had a water friendly cord... maybe I'll try leather.

Wow! What wonderful gifts and I cannot even start to imagine what incredible glue and string tops are going to come out of them (if you can stop playing with the HDPE tops long enough!)

The photo of the top with the camera (phone) inside the top is perfect for a new photo contest :)

By the way, did you cut the door for the musical box after you finished the elephant? That is a lot of detail you put into that elephant!

Yes I did, I built it with the original intent to open it up as either an experiment with the music box or as a container... i almost left it as just an elephant because the risk of messing it up seemed high, but i think the end result justified the risk.
