new fun contest starting if there are some seasoned players around ;--)

the "BREAK-SOMETHING-WITH-A-TOP" CONTEST

rules

post a u tube : 1 mn vid illustrating the subject

scoring
60 points will be rewarded according to the smashing factor
example of a basic scale :

plastic balloon 5
raw egg or glass 10
light bulb 20
grand'ma's mirror 30
unkle joe's digital Tv 40
chumlee's Mink vase 50
down town shop-window 60

other targets welcome , ,

40 points for the scenery , the soundtrack, the costume and the rest

the final scoring will be on 100

Judges

it will be a "community" judging
as i plan to enter the contest

the final votes will be proceeded through a pool on the forum

awards

1 a special wood top , home turned
2 a unique indian top

Hello Jim In Paris,

I am potentially in for sure. I have a few questions however...

What are the rules for this contest?

Does "Style" count at all for how the objects are to be broken?

For example... Would using a spintop to mug someone count? Would doing a stacked trapeze while robbing a bank count? If I post a youtube video of myself doing a stairway to heaven, while being mauled by police dogs, do I win? Is the emphasis, on style? Destruction? or both?

Is the point the extent of destruction? The most things destryoed by the top? It would be great to know the rules, but I am most likely in, but I would have to read the rules first!

By the way, Jim told me that the video I used for the joke contest was ineligible because the breakage was out of view

We were training this trick:

At least it was Quentin who broke the glass. Was that the 61th trick of the week from a series by Quentin? That is more than a year worth of tricks!
Did you also try a triple wire walker?

That TV was already broken but Boot really broke a 42" TV with a brand new Neff top.

Jim is quite strict with the 1 minute limit. Yes, this thread is the place.

throwing the top like a "target shot" is the simplest way to go :but it is not compulsory
when I write "breaking", i mean it
dictionary says: "divide or separate violently into parts"
Syn : smash,fracture,split,burst,disrupt,destroy,ruin ...

yes style counts it's part of the 40pts

well that is barely acceptable : you would break the law but not "something"

destruction would go in the 60pts
style would go into the 40pts

this concept of mass destruction makes sense; just make sure no-one gets hurt

You can check the series at his youtube but most of tricks are with yoyo or other juggling stuff. I've found 17 and 27 as spintop related but there should be at least one more

I love you guys so much! hahaha! All those videos are amazing! Jim In Paris, I died laughing while watching your matches video. YOU ARE SO COOL! Such a riot!



haha... I wouldn't break someone's window, but just out of curiousity. If I just walk up to someone in the middle of the day, with my fedora on, and under the leg boomerange the top, through both windows in a car... and while the passenger is screaming at me, I keep walking, tip my fedora, and THE BASS DROPS. Would that be acceptable? If it won, would i recieve the prize in Jail?

Eliminating the "http" and the "www" from the youtube URL will stop it from embedding the youtube video but should still provide the link.
