Javier F. on Spanish TV talent show

Post by ta0 »

Javier Fortes participated on a TV show from Spain similar to America's Got Talent (but the judges are nicer) that aired yesterday. You can see it here:

www.telecinco.es/_5f518d21

His performance is at the beginning, then there is a long discussion about if he should get unanimous thumbs up, in which case he would have won 1,000 euros (if I understood correctly). I believe he will participate again next week (but the show was filmed 6 months ago.

He did great. He seemed to be enjoying himself while doing the tricks. I think he should not have included the whip: the judges were impressed by the easy tricks, no need to put a high risk trick in there (but I always fall for the temptation :o ).

The subtitle on the page translates as: "He managed to get the world champion to perform in his village." When I first read it I though it referred to Gerardo but then I realized that was ME! ;D

Pulp, nice to see you posting.

I agree, to try a full-string whip was a bit risky, but he had wonderful composure considering the venue. Well done!

He has a unique throw. Rather a push than a throw.

Javier is listed on the show's site as one of the 21 finalists this Sunday . . . Competing against all those performers looks extremely difficult. But the experience should be great. In addition spintops are getting a big exposure.

Here you can see his performance in the final: www.telecinco.es/_5f799b64

I loved his stage presence, always smiling and very enthusiastic. I think Javier would do very well in freestyle contests.
I think the trick selection could have been a little better, but he still does very well. I don't know if in that context I could even nail a boomerang! Even Dave Bazan missed corkscrew when he tried it in ABC's Masters of Champions.

The winner was, like generally happens in these talent shows, a singer (a 15 year old girl singing an opera).

I believe this is a popular program in Spain so this was a great promotion for top spinning. Well done Javier!!!
