So JohnM informed me that tops appear in this years episode of Treehouse of Horrors XXI on the Simpsons. I did some YouTube searching and found a preview of it.

Re: Spintops in Simpsons
At the "Young Street Artists festival" in Mollina, Spain, where I gave the spintop exhibition a few months ago, one of the contestants did a similar cube spinning routine. A cube is a great object to spin as it spins balanced around any axis going through the center: in that sense it is equivalent to a sphere. Something that I would try is to add handles to the cube frame so it can be spun from a point away from the edges. It might give a nice effect, I am guessing. The handles could be matte black so as to be somewhat invisible.
