This is the annual Top Spinning Day---- all around the world!

It is a Challenge and a Celebration:
-a challenge to get the LARGEST NUMBER OF SPINS worldwide!
-a celebration of the scientific fact that THE WORLD IS A TOP!
-and just plain, old, ageless FUN!

Email the Spinning Top Museum with your total number of spins, city/country, location (school, beach, university, senior center, your breakfast table, break room, city park, etc....) and photos, too, please. Email: thetopmuseum@hotmail.com by Sat. Oct 12, 2024.

Each time you start a top spinning, it counts as a spin!
Spin solo and/or get your neighbors, friends, and co-workers to spin tops on this day.

(The spins & photos must be on this day, Oct. 9, 2024; to count in this challenge.)

This Spinning Day was started about 20 years ago by the Top Lady (aka Judith) at the Spinning Top Museum in Burlington, Wisconsin.
> Since then the National Science Foundation has recommended it as a classroom activity, Family Fun Magazine wrote about it, it was mentioned on National Public Radio, and adults & kids have taken part all around the world. From a professor in Poland, 200 students in Romania, a High School art class in Hawaii, a library in Texas, to a pastor in Ohio! And! State university students in Kansas made tops and the local TV station covered their spinning!

Jim: I count 16 finger tops on that photo but the note says that 15 tops were spun: which one failed to spin?

Ah, I was not prepared for this. I spend a few days in Leipzig with the family. I could only spin the 15 tops I brought with me anyway plus the one my wife bought for me here.

You take 15 tops on a regular family vacation trip? ...

I still try to draw my wife and the kids into spinning. So I need to be able to supply them with equipment when the moment is right.

I had a pretty good ISTD. I got a lot of people to spin. I gave out a lot of tops. I spun a lot of tops myself. And to top it all off, in the evening, the people in the bar were making up spinning games with my tops and were cheering and yelling like crazy over one of their activities. I am already looking forward to next year!!!
