Re: MOYO 2011
Thanks, Mike. I have never met Dr. Tada. I hope he is in good health and still spinning and that one day I can meet him.
The article mentions that in Japanese top spinning is called koma-mawashi (独楽 回し or こま まわし). The verb mawaru (回る) means to turn.

I also dream of meeting him. I treasure that picture of Chris Neff with him. Lucky Chris!!!
One time I was spinning and a guy came up to me and talked about meeting this guy who spun around the St. Louis arch. He was able to describe a lot of his act. I was spellbound to hear about his encounter and his descriptions of the spinning items. Sure wish I could hear more about him.

I read this Wikipedia again and it's showing that Hiroshi Tada passed away last year...the Earl of Whirl wrote: While thinking about Dr. Hiroshi Tada I came across this interesting thread. I also found this on Wikipedia.....

I was thinking about him just recently and went to his Facebook portfolio and was redirected to Remembering Hiroshi Tada page... https://www.facebook.com/hiroshi.tada.14289

Oh, this is so sad. Thanks Mark for the heads up.
I so much wish I had met him in person. He should have been in the Figaro gallery, for sure.

When Jim Neff and I were together at the RIT juggling festival, Don Olney got talking about Tada Hiroshi. He has many great memories and recollections. It caused me to look back at his life and the great article about him. I wish I could have met him. He would have loved to have been on this forum and chatting about spin top physics with you guys!!!
