Tricks for an intermediate spin top video
Hey all!
I'm going to be shooting some videos with my friends in Chicago on Monday, and if there's time I want to shoot an intermediate spin top tricks video. I already have a How To Spin a Top video, and this will be the follow-up.
The last video ended with Boomerang, Target Shoot, and Battling. You can see it for yourself here:
https://youtu.be/k_6bhV8_AgM
I was thinking about doing:
Under the leg Boomerang
Merry-go-round
Crazy 8
Button Snag
Wire Walker
Mach 5
Gyroscopic Flop
maybe others
What do you think? What should be in this video?

Re: Tricks for an intermediate spin top video
The first video has a lot of production quality!
The list for the second video is good. Those are tricks that should be in anybody's bag of tricks.
Maybe you can finish Button Snag with Helicopter.
You could also combine MGR with Crazy 8 and add Pole Dancing as follow up.
By the way, the way you do Sky Rocket is unusual. See comments by Neff and me: link

How about corkscrew? And would it kill you to get a lovely assistant? All the magicians have one!

Art is how we decorate space, music is how we decorate time ... and with spinning tops, we decorate both.

Re: Tricks for an intermediate spin top video
Great quality video Mark congratulations. I would add 'Around the World' to the trick list.

Re: Tricks for an intermediate spin top video
Well the list is getting pretty long.
May I suggest "elevator". No not "El Ascensor". --- Mexican drop to trapeze. String loops over the throwing hand thumb. Then pull with the non throwing hand until the top is spinning in the throwing hand. Raising the hand to the side then bringing the top to center once on the hand adds a bit of panache. Simple to do. A great crowd pleaser.
Now that I think of it how about just the trapeze throw. When I first saw this trick I was convinced that mortals could not be fast enough to do this.

Re: Tricks for an intermediate spin top video
Great suggestions everyone! Thanks!
It's true, the list is getting pretty long, and I'll probably have to hold some back for another video.
The first video looks so great because Takeshi made it!
A lovely assistant would be lovely for sure... I guess I won't know if it would kill me until I try! (thanks for the offer Jeremy
)
Good call Jorge, this might be my opportunity to do Skyrocket right. I didn't realize when I made the first video that there was a better way.

Not quite what I had in mind, but if you guys decide to go that way, you could ask Steve Brown where to find a ‘full figure’ tutu.MarkHayward wrote: Great suggestions everyone! Thanks!

Re: Tricks for an intermediate spin top video
If it makes any difference, I have a Princess Leah bikini.
Not really a throwing top player, but the beginner video seemed to present a series of skill stepping stones leading to higher-level tricks. That paradigm might also guide trick selection for an intermediate tutorial.

Re: Tricks for an intermediate spin top video
The introductory spin top videos from Spintastics and Duncan were pretty good but they need to be updated.
Maybe you can do exactly that...

Re: Tricks for an intermediate spin top video
Well, it turned out that we ran out of time at the shoot to do a spin top video
It's still at the top of my list though, so I'll get to it soon.
Thanks for the help everyone!
