women football worlds cup

Post by jim in paris »

hi all

we host the women worlds cup in France for a month
I went to see the opening match at the Parc des Princes
france vs korea result 4-0
good match with a very warm public
but also bad vibes with no less than 3 security checks on the way: >:(

next match against Norway on tuesday

There has been some nice coverage in the paper about this event. I am glad you got to see it live. That sounds exciting.....except for the bad vibe in the stadium. Good luck against Norway!!!

I feel badly for Thailand. I have never heard of a game with that kind of a score.

The U.S. women do not seem like the U.S. men in soccer? It will be interesting to see how far they go.

Good job France. USA Today paper says France is vying to become the first nation to hold the men's and women's World Cup titles at the same time!

It has been interesting to read a lot of negative things in the press about the US running up the score on Thailand.

Why should they play down to their opponent? Thailand learned a lot about themselves and how to prepare for their opponent.
Practice hard and play safe.

salut Dick ! I totally agree with you :
it's sport , you learn from your defeats as much as from you victories
in rugby when a team is far ahead of the opponent, they keep scoring until the end (it's called to chastise!)
on sunday USA vs Chile

Nah. They learned that their goalkeeper is really awful (although some of the US goals were great).
What people mostly criticized were the celebrations after the later goals. I don't think they were over the top, but a little less would have been better.

Now there is talk about whether or not USA should lose to Sweden so their path in the World Cup would be easier! A loss might keep them from having to face France later on!!!

hello mike and the friends here

my phony-comment detector has beeped 3 times after this assertion
" A loss might keep them(the us) from having to face France later on!!!"

the us and france, both have the same goal: to win all matches
there is no point in calculation ;)

Yep! We will soon see.

I see France won today. It sounds like it was quite a tense game with Brazil. Good job, Les Bleues. Now we will see if USA can get by Spain to set up a USA/France match.

The second penalty against Spain was a real steal.
