Stacked Trapeze Questions

Post by 113 »

Hello Everyone,

So, as you may recall I haughtily proclaimed that the "Stacked Trapeze" would soon be in my mastery. Well, my comrades, I regret to inform you that with much practice, this is not so.

I am easily able to perform the one handed trapeze, by casting the top vertically and catching it horizontally upon the string, using my thumb and index finger as a "crook". Upon capture, the top slides down, between these fingers pulling the string with it. Is this done correctly, so far? That is a one handed trapeze, yes?

Now, I don't exactly understand what I am supposed to get into a stacked trapeze. I keep trying to land a trapeze, then form a second trapeze with my second hand for the top to fall onto, but it never wants to catch the string.

Is it possible that my Sofia/LingDong does not have a wide enough tip, and so the top slips off the second trapeze?

Is it possible that I am supposed to perform both trapezes at the same time? Not one after the other?

I am able to do a one handed trapeze. What is the next step in learning this trick? I have practiced immensely, but I find that it is important to understand what I need to do, in order to actually practice it.

I appreciate any advice you can give!

Thank you,

This is Jack's trick, I don't know if anybody else has attempted to learn it yet. The nuances of tricks like this can be very difficult to describe in written word, I recommend you watch this overhead view a few hundred times. Starts at 1:30

Dear Neff and Jack,

Ah... Left over right... I will try that soon... that did not occor to me, I was trying right over left... It seems that that is the problem... One more question. Are you using a "fixed" or a "bearing" top? Which do you feel works better?

Thank you,

This would be easier to learn with a bearing tip but I'm with Jack, fixed tip or die!.... unless you are doing an impossibly long and complicated bearing trick combo. For some folks, not all but some, once regenerations are learned, bearing tops seem kinda... limited. Finite. There is a beginning and an end, and the end is near. Of course there are clutch bearing tops to solve this but there is something beautifully pure about fixed tip style that keeps fellas like me and Jack spinning.
