We first tried to do the almost three minutes of the complete piece, but it is very difficult to keep the top going when you are pivoting, so we shortened it. Sorry if the ending is boring (but heck, it racks points )

too bad the cavalier is dropped off so early , he must have whispered a word to many, or it's simply , like the song goes " a woman is a creature that has always been strange ..."
(for the judges ) notice the lack of light , the poor dancing of the boy, and the fact that half of the vid doesn't match the main topic

I'll let Pulpowsky comment on this, but the goal of the tango male dancer is to show off the woman

On the contrary, it shows the life of isolation and heartsickness of the rejected man (just because one little indiscretion) which is one of the favorite themes of tango lyrics.

Toptango dancing is great, but more than 3 minutes spinnig is superb.

And dance a tango with open embrace by the top is very challenging because the leader must lead with the chest and that is advanced tango.

I dont know why German block the video, the rights for Bahía blanca of the blind Di Sarli passed away long time ago.

i have just rewatched all the 6 vids : great fun !
everyone has his skills and I would score the entertainment part (on 120) at between 80 and 100+ for each presentation
that said , the spin time does make a difference

at the beginning I had written that I expected 12 entries
and we are at 6 with only 3 players
would extending the deadline for posting a vid be of any help ?
that i wonder

for the time being the contest is suspended

decision to take
1 we leave it here
2 we give more time

OK.......in Chicago it's 11:30 PM on March 5th, so I'm still in the window for submitting an entry to the competition. With that said, I'm happy if Jim wants to extend the competition deadline....

My entry has a theme related to the to the top I used. I turned a 6 1/2 " Delrin top a few years ago; it's still my favorite top; I polled the forum for a name and the top's name is Yeti.....

The alternate name for Yeti is "Lewis' Hat"...

So, my entry to the competition is based on the theme of hats and Yeti is my weapon of choice....

My entry was made from a single throw (good thing too 'cause holding a big top in an outstretched hand for 5 minutes makes you arm cramp); my stopwatch pegs the spin time at 4:55..... on my one practice throw the day before I got 5:35, I'm sure 6:00 or more is possible. Also, I had two glasses of wine and dinner prior to the video taping....
