Gladiator Tips

I'm still working on the basics but my neighbor is able to do some string tricks. I gave him a Gladiator and I decided to modify the point for him. I did two so he could have a spare. It only took me about fifteen minutes to do both points. The stock Gladiator point is on the left and the new one on the right. I used pictures here on the forum as a guide for the shape.

If the point was like that on the Gladiator that I have, I would probably start spinning that top again. I'm really enjoying Spintastics Trompo Grande with Salvador custom point that I have right now though. The first top that I learned to regenerate with...

Perfect. What is the diameter at the groove? Looks good. I prefer 4mm.

I currently prefer about 3.5 mm on mine. From the picture yours seems to be between 2.5 and 3 mm. I have used them that thin and some of my HPs still have them. I think 3 mm plays well but 2.5 mm is too much as it will not wire walk well and bends easily.

I didn't really think about a particular diameter when I did these. I was just going by pictures I had seen here on the forum of different points others had done. My ruler says that the "waist" is about 3mm. I don't have a caliper to measure more precisely. The next ones I'll try to keep at 4mm. I haven't progressed to string tricks yet ( so far, my boomerangs usually turn into a little thing I call "the Forehead Bop" ) so I wasn't sure about the measurements. As far as tools, I put the point in a drill and used a file to shape it. Polishing was done using sandpaper down to 600 grit. It only takes a few minutes to do.

Nice, I really like that. I tried modifying one of Salvadors points to fit the smaller Spintastics, but it didnt work too well for me. this looks like a good option.
