Wonderful, Jim! It will be the first time that we meet outside France.

This could be a great "the-pandemic-is-finally-over" spintop party! Crossing my fingers!

Hm, hmm, hmmm!
Maybe I should prepare well and then I should have a serious talk with my wife. Maybe there just is a slight possibility we change our plans a bit and I could come to Cremona for three days or so............
Well one is allowed to dream, not?

Maurizio and members of the Cremona festival on Italia Got Talent:

I love it!  8) It seems to me that the Italian version is kinder than the American version of Got Talent.
Maurizio was a little shy. I would have loved to see Rocco there.  ;)
By the way, the shorter lady (red top) should have lost the race, not the taller guy (yellow top): hers didn't spin upright while the other did.

This festival is looking better and better . . .

Hallo, we was really tired because we was the last to record the exibition. We start to record the different moments from 8.00, we make the stage rehearsals around 12.30 and we return to register the interviews ecc till 18.00.
We performerd around 20.30.
BTW was amazing, the only regret is because we coudn't throw the tops on stage, because Alberto was nervous and failed the throw on stage rehearsals.

I changed flights: I'm arriving to Milan the 23rd and leaving June 2nd. It's a shorter stay but I will still be there for most of the festival, although I might miss the last couple of days while traveling to Trentino.

Gianni Casalino just become an ITSA member and I look forward to meeting him at the festival. I also hope to meet Iacopo!!! Of course, I look forward to seeing again Maurizio and the inimitable Rocco. And the French crew, and . . .

Just three weeks until the festival!
This is the website: https://familydays.it/il-primo-festival-delle-trottole-a-cremona/
The first bullet point on the site says: "You can assist to the must-see Spintop Olympics organized by the biggest thrower of Italian tops, Rocco Cosca, who will teach how to throw an acrobatic top."  :)
It also says that they will try to break the Italian record for simultaneous spinning tops (1000).
I'm getting really excited!

I'm leaving tomorrow for Italy. I'm very excited!
Cuper is leaving today. He has top demonstrations scheduled for Wednesday in Perugia:

It's a little too far south from where I'm staying Tuesday, so I'll probably miss it.

By the way, it seems that Iacopo may be at the festival on Sunday  :)

I'm in Milan and I was just on the phone with Rocco. He tells me that between turners, players and other performers there are 60 special guests. It's going to be a great festival. I'll meet the crew either Thursday or Friday, after some sightseeing in northern Italy. Figaro travels with me.

Tonight I'm joining Cuper in Venice. He told me that his exhibition yesterday was a total success. Tomorrow evening we'll meet Gianni Casalino in Bologna.  :) His collection is in boxes but it will be great to talk tops.

Thanks to Figaro and an incredible coincidence I met some distant cousins. More when I'm back to the US.

Italy is beautiful and the weather has been wonderful. Unfortunately, there may be rain in Cremona Saturday.
