Unfortunately, we had to cancel the meeting with Gianni in Bologna. But we will meet him in Cremona.

We met many players, collectors and makers at the park and later we had a nice dinner given by the organizers in which we occupied two rooms. Mermouy, Emmanuel (with daughter), Attila, Kostas, Dauge (a new great player from Mallorca), Gianni, Maurizio and, of course, Rocco, were there.
This looks like it's going to be a great festival!

This was the first italian festival about spinning tops, (Cremona, May 28 and 29, 2022).
It was only two hours drive from where I live so I thought that I couldn't miss.
It was a show even better than I thought, there were so many tops, then talented artisans and dexterous jugglers !

Jorge, thank you for your patience teaching me how to throw the top with the string.  I am very bumbling but I will improve.
Thanks to Cuper and Emilio Benericetti too, who gifted me two little tops.

A wonderland of finger tops! Love the one with the bell-shaped rotor full of holes. Very bad for air resistance but a beautiful static design.

I too like that one.  The part with the holes seems delicate, it must be not very easy to make, I suspect.

I add another one.  At some point Jorge made that giant top to rotate all around, which was very spectacular to see, given the dimensions of the top. 
The photo is not good, I had no time to zoom out and the top is not visible, the timing too is not good...
But I post it, for the wonderful incredulous face at the left.

Although I still feel a bit melancholic that I had to miss out on this one and that I could not meet all of you again or for the first time respectively. It brings back good memories of my "initiation to throw tops" in February this year at Marines. I am guessing Iacopo we had some similar experiences.


Could you tell me more about thise class of tops?



Are they for "dual use"? Either upside down hanging there magnetically or turned around to be spun in that dimple in the wood?
