drawstring top bag
« on: February 23, 2020, 08:44:22 PM »

My grandson in New Hampshire, who just turned seven, is learning to spin tops.  I gave him a Sir Duncan Christmas before last, and he can throw a pretty good spinner.  He can't quite master catching a skyrocket he's popped up himself.  But, he's getting pretty good about catching and balancing the top if I pop it up for him.
I have a drawstring bag that I use to carry tops, and he was admiring it on our last visit.  So, I made this one for him, for his birthday. It's denim from an old pair of jeans for the main part of the bag.  It has a fleece lining, and I put a little of the fleece around the outside just for decoration.  The drawstring is a top string.  The webbing shoulder strap has a buckle and is adjustable, because I figure he's only going to get taller.  The round bottom is 4" diameter, and it's about 5 1/2 inches tall.
