Skipping trapeze - New (existing) Trick
« on: December 05, 2019, 01:04:31 PM »

Hey y'alls, here's a new trick I came up with the other day!

It's super fun from the player perspective :) It kind of feel unreal when you hit it the first time :)
I did 4x in this video, I don't think I went over 10 .. :)

Cheers
paxl

ps: as ta0 pointed out, it was already existing so :) Sorry for the excitement... still find this to be very nice flow'ey trick :)

Very nice! Fun trick!

But, I don't think it's completely new. I'm pretty sure the move has been included in some freestyles.

Jon Gates does a Joker Choker in which he throws the string forward in a very similar movement. You can see it at 1:51 here:

I'm not 100% sure if he goes over or under the top there. But I recall Jon suggesting I went over the top to avoid string tangling (I didn't follow the advice as it seemed more difficult to do).

But the trick should be highlighted by itself and deserves a name. You can name it  :).

I started doing that trick around World's this year. I do it both ways, forward and reverse. I will be including a version of it when I put out my patch video. I already have patches in hand with my logo. Most likely early next year.
I also didn't know JG had done this move.

In my mind, I had the impression I had seen you do it, but I was not sure. Now, the reverse direction I don't recall seen anybody do.
A Jose's patch? Wonderful!  8)

Like in science, the first to "publish" a trick gets a good part of the credit.
I think it makes sense to leave this post by itself and not in your progress thread.

I forgot to post this video. I put it up on Instagram a while ago. I was doing a new rainbow trick as well.

Wonderful, Jose! The rainbow trick also looks like lots of fun!
Maybe I should follow you in Instagram!  :P But I try to limit following people as I don't want to drown in social media . . .

I'm curious what names you had for the skipping and reverse skipping tricks. I keep thinking that over-the-top trapeze would be more descriptive.

I hate social media. I have only recently started to use it since it's easier to post video and pictures. I like face to face interaction way better, but I guess social media has it's benefits.
I had not come up with names yet for the those moves. I like over the top since I am a sucker for 80s movies ;)
Combined it could be over under trapeze.

Well, I've been reffering to it as slipping trapeze for a long while!!! I'm also have hate social media, but still kind of like sharing videos on YouTube!

But I think that obvious!
