Dads: transmitting the art of top spinning to a new generation! (or at least that is what should happen).

Yes, I took that photo of the Rambler when I visited you collection. But I do have one now.
The good news is that I have been teaching Pablo the basics of throwing a top. I should do that right now!  :)

It is sometimes hard to pass along top spinning to a son/daughter.  All my boys learned to throw but only one has tossed even the slightest in the past 15 years.  On the other hand, I feel like I will have great success with my grandson.  He seems to be ready to spend some good quality time with gramps.......and this might mean that his dad will start throwing with me again!?!?

Happy Father's Day to everyone.

Thanks Jack. My son in law bought me a brand new miter saw. I told him he can have it I'll take his old one. I love him so he understands. You can't teach an OLD DOG new tricks.

I guess I'm lucky both of my sons are top spinners. I just hope they pass on the knowledge to their kids.  For my Father's Day, Eli and I watched the US Open on TV.  I also received free food and golf balls as a gift.

Very cool, Jack!  8)

When my mother found out that I had started collecting tops she sent me this top that had belonged to my father when he was a kid:

From the looks, it must have been in many battles. And the boomerang is sweet (I was successful the very first time I tried it)  :)

Jack, your picture will make Don Olney very very happy.  It also looks very much like my first top.  Go Toycrafter.  We miss you!!!

Happy Father's Day 2021!

As a father, it's important to model good behavior. So today I'm going to model eating barbecue and cake -- and of course, playing with tops.

I had the Greatest Dad there is. When I was about ten in the fourth grade Duncan would come to the school with it’s Yo Yo contest - I would always take second place never first, and I loved it. So my dad buys this cheap would top to show me - he throws it lands in a coke bottle cap - picks it up and smiles. He grew up in Oklahoma, and they made all there own toys. He told me he busted a lot of other tops fighting. I wish I could throw tops with him Today. Thanks Dad.
