Thanks to one of the kindest and most generous people I have ever met on-line I received this Gasing Bangka today.  Safri, originally from Banka Island and now living in Jakarta Indonesia, was kind enough to support my yearning for tops made by local artisans around the globe.  I am indeed fortunate and forever grateful for meeting him. Here is a photo and video.



The gasing is 3" in Diameter and 4" high.  It weighs 340.5 grams.

Congrats Larry! It is great that you not only got an Indonesian gasing but also made a good contact there.

Does he know Endi Aras, the owner of the red brick house collection and president of the tradional gasing association?

I doubt if Safri knows Endi Aras but I will ask him next time I write.
