No the wood for the top came out of the same board I took and alternated the grain patter to hopfully keep to from cracking. by big concern is that I am goin going to break the tip after I put the new one on.

Top is 5.5" By 7.5 approx. size had a lot of fun making it good learning curve next one will be smaller and much thinner in design.
