Vintage reversible-tip battle tops
« on: August 08, 2012, 10:25:12 AM »

I got a bag of these vintage (1920s?  to 1950s?) tops from Rick Osborne and we used them in the big battle.  The curious thing is that they originally looked very innocent, but if you pulled out the tip and reverse it, it became a much scarier spike top. Rick made me aware of this.  I am not 100% sure if this feature was designed on purpose or if that side of the tip was just designed to penetrate the wood and grab well.  Now I am thinking in pulling out the tip on other vintage tops with smilar tops that I have.

Everybody who participated on the battle could take one home.  The surplus I gave to Mike, so they should be able to battle them at the festival.

Hmm That's very interesting. Is the sharp side too sharp to land it on your hand? It looks pretty scary! ;)

czyoyo, with all the spinning you do your hands should be up to it.  >:D
Well...at least the tip is not rusty.  :)

Cool.  Seems like they must have been meant to act as screws to insert and hold the point in--like threads.  Longer too.

Still looks wicked cool reversed tho! >:D
