Lots of good stuff in StuntMan's link.

Here is a single-picture tutorial on how to modify steel tips:

That is a STB tip in the picture, but the method is the same.  All ya need is a drill that spins true, a vice to hold the drill, and a Dremmel with a reinforced cut of wheel.

You can also use a diamond bit on the Dremmel, I found that easier to handle than the cutting wheel.

Thanks you all,
I hate to sound ignorant but, what exacly are you modding the point for?
I understand that different points play completetly different, but why mod a trompo grande?
I personally prefer the shape of the mexican trompos point, so i wouldnt mind modding the trompo grande, but why? im trying to learn if the point can be modded for easier play, regens, or what in particular?

My first tip I modified simple because I could (sometimes you have way too much time to spare), then with the new tip I discovered the amazing difference that the tip can make, specially on catching the top on the air, like lasso, trapeze and rollercoaster. As Salvador said, the tip is where the string spends most of the time so it is the most important part of the Top. The Mexican tip shapes are very good for wirewalkers, but are challenging when doing a boomerang to lasso or a trapeze.

I completly understand what your saying MatiasStuntMan, it does make a big difference, like you said the mexican trompos are not really that good for certain tricks, I have a Jumbo (premier) with an already modded point, I got it from ta0, so Salvador modded it himself, and wow it really does make a difference but i wanna get that same feel but with a smaller trompo, a Jumbo is almost the same as a trompo grande (spintastics), thats why I want to learn how to mod a point
I been thinking of using the Jumbo as a guide, but I have no idea what im doing, and im not really handy with tools, therefore i have no tools, but im determined to get that same feel I get with the Jumbo but with a smaller trompo

Yes! I was sure that the problem was the tip.
Besides the JUmbo, Trompo Grande is my second favorite to play now! Of course, mainly by the size and weight.

Salvador, I assume your new tip is similiar to the ones made for the Jumbos?  Is this correct?
