Miamisburg 2023
« on: May 13, 2023, 09:51:20 PM »

Has a date been set yet?  I don't see it on the calendar.
I hope it is not August 19th since we have commitment then.

Good news!!!  We are looking at August 26th, the fourth Saturday in that month.  People at St. Jacob are on board and willing to host everyone.  The city seems to not be behind us as much anymore.  I will work on that but we have a new mayor who does not come by to spin the ceremonial first top.  Also, our festival was left off the calendar of city events.  The good news is that Jim Neff and an old pastor turn 70 this summer.  It would be fun to celebrate Jim’s milestone and all the spinning fun he brings to our fest.

Well DARN, Two 70th birthdays and our 60th Wedding Anniversary on the 24th of August, and I will be Sharpening scissors and knives at a Quilt Show on the 25th&26th of August. Looks like one more year missing all the fun. :-(

That's great news. How many years of the Miamisburg festival? More than 20 (with only a one year break for covid), I believe.

60th Wedding Anniversary? Congratulations Dick! That's an amazing accomplishment (by Beverly  ;D )!

Things are brewing for August 26th.  We look forward to sharing more and more exciting news in the coming days.  The bad news is we will not be allowed to do any spinning or high tosses in the riverfront park or use the stage.  It is all torn up!!!  They are in the midst of a 5 million dollar redevelopment with more parking, a new stage, new landscaping and new playground equipment.  The good news is that 2024 will be a special fest in these new surroundings.

Will there be places to spin tops at the festival, since no spinning at the river front?

Thankfully, we have plenty of spinning areas rain or shine.  We have the church lawn and a small parking lot when the weather cooperates.  We also have a fellowship hall inside with a fairly high ceiling.  A library area with carpet is also available.  Here is a picture of what used to be the stage area at the park…

Well... I have good news and bad news. I can come to Miamisburg that weekend, but I have a gig in Chicago Saturday night, so I'd have to leave by about noon on Saturday. Better than nothing?

Wow! Now that is truly torn up! I am glad the mural is still there  ;D

I cannot make any guarantees now, but I will do my best to be there again!

Thanks for the updates and for hosting the event again  :D

If I join the event, where is the best airport from Japan?
The day after tomorrow I will decide to go there or not. I’m happy if the event have an open division of the nats.

Dayton International Airport (DAY) is the most convenient airport. It's a 30 minute drive to Miamisburg.
Mike should be able to give you more info when he checks the forum.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to go this year as I'll be out of the country visiting my mom.
