Diy battle top arena?
« on: August 21, 2019, 03:34:14 PM »

I heard that a saucer for sledding would be good for a battle top arena, but the one at worlds was dope.

Are there any tuts on making one like that?

Also, maybe a link to the rules for battle tops would be sweet!

Saucer sleds are great. However there are several things to watch out for.  Some new sleds have design bumps inside.  These are bad.
Brand new sleds don't work that well .  The tops get no traction.  Sandpaper helps, but not as much as having a really old sled that has been dedicated to top battles for years.

It’s time to fight with big wood tops in the DIRT.

I think the one at World's was cut off the end of a gas tank for a semi.

Yes, semi gas tank end. Thor (from MN) works on trucks, and had a couple tanks that needed replacing. He cut the ends off, and gave them to me. I spent an hour or so sanding and cleaning and BAM we have a great arena.
I gave one to Hayward in WI.....and Thor says he will have a couple more for me to work on soon.
Hopefully we can get a few made to pass around.
