Foot Boomerang
« on: February 22, 2010, 12:52:02 PM »

Here is a photo of my oldest son Robert (spamgray) throwing a boomerang with his foot. Some of you may have heard about it, but never saw a photo to prove it. He actually throws the top with his foot and catches it spinning on his hand. This photo was taken in 2003 at Chico by Bob Rule. I have never seen anyone else do it. Not even Steve Brown.
The park was mostly grass and trees at that time.

That is awesome and mind expanding.  More proof that there are many possibilities still out over the horizon.  In the juggling world there are some great one armed jugglers.  Someday we may have some terrific throwers who, at first glance, may not have seemed to be so.

Yeah, I have seen Robert do it. It is a pity nobody could send me a video clip of him for the boomerang section for the 2nd collective video. You two should get together and film something for the third one. Maybe you can start with a series of your one-handed lassos and then Robert can outdo you with a foot lasso?  ;)  ;D

Holy Cow,
There's a blast from the bast.

I think the only time I had anyone videotape that was some kids Mom at MWR a while back.

I do remember Jon Gates getting a video of you throwing the foot boomerang at the 2003 Flatland Festival. Maybe he still has it. Any chance you still have it Jon?

Does anybody give a description about how the throw is performed? I think the trick is affordable for my feet.

I never tryied to do a boomerang with the foot. I do some thing with tops in which I include my feet, but never throw directly from a boomerang.
The rocket is the most easy thing to do with the foot.
Great trick the one your son does! bOmmerang with the foot!

I guess the only description I have is to wrap the string around your big toe, and use the tension of the string to hold the top against your foot until you throw it. Wood works the best because it has just the right tackiness against your bare foot.

Then just throw it. It's sort of like throwing rocks with your feet.
