Good morning my fellow spin toppers!

I would like to share with you the fist comprehensive Spin Top Database

Its a living spreadsheet that grows and grows, there you can find by searching / filtering by several characteristics such as:

Main Material (drop-down): Wood - Pine , Plastic - PLA, Plastic - Derlin, Metal - Aluminium...
Brand (if applicable): Strumol8, Cometa, YYF
Mainway of manufacturing(drop-down): Lathe, mold, 3D printed, molten plastic...
Spun way(drop-down): two fingers, palms, sting launcher, motor launcher
Regeneration way (drop-down): plate, whip, string, magnets,
Tip Shape (drop-down): Diabolo, rounded
Special power (drop-down): Visual effect, turns upside down, rattleback, super long spin, it becomes many spintops, levitates, makes a sound, leds, ligtht and music, computer inside...
Detailed Special power (text): Blablabla
Original of (if applicable): Country...
Where can be found (if applicable): Unique piece, Owner, Museum, shop...

Each feature would have its own sheet with more info besides the main feature, for instance:

Brand: Strumol8
Country: Italy

This database works the following way:
  • Vistitor: You can surf and look arround
  • Contributor: You can add / update the database (creating or correcting the database)

WARNING: Its 99,9999% empty at the moment but feel free to play arround and add features and spin tops!!

You didn't put any links to the spreadsheet. I'm not sure if you wanted to at this time.

Im just starting!!

The database is an idea that can be built by contributing.

I would love to have your (not just Ta0´s, also yours, fellow spin top lover that is reading) help defining the features and possible values.

The idea for me is not just making a catalog, but learning while building it.

Great idea, Pepe! This should be both a valuable asset and an interesting exercise.

Added Optical, Centrifugal, and Coaxial categories to the Special Powers tab. These cover many vintage and modern novelty tops -- e.g., color-mixing tops, virtual surface generators, various Edo and Märklin mechanical tops, Wizzzers. (I make a lot of LEGO tops in these categories as well.)

Will post examples soon.
