Hello! Hello!
« on: January 30, 2013, 06:56:27 PM »

I was on a spintop board about 6-7 years ago(Wow how time flies) I can't remember any user names except for Ta0, he was somewhat like my inspiration. But I decided to pick up topping again! I came back and my jaw dropped to the floor when I saw the price of the Giuila(spelling, can't check right now I'm at work. ;P). However I did end up buying it because I love bearing top play and this seems like the best in the business. I believe I stopped playing because the bearing king went out of production and it was my favorite top, as well as just getting bored with the hobby. However taking stock in my life recently made me realize I was more happy when I was able to do a hobby I loved and cared about, thus why I justified the price of the Giuila haha.

Anyway, little background for you guys but the tl;dr version is I'm back and excited to start throwing some tops around!

Hey, welcome back to the hobby/sport!
What was your username on the old boards?

Yes, the Giulia and other S8 tops are at a different price point than the old tops.  But they are way better than the Bearing Kings.  Not only they far out-spin them, but they withstand much rougher play, which is a big plus.

Yes, welcome back Blithen!  That does sound familiar.  Weren't you Blithen in the old board?

Anyway, it was great to read your testimonial.  Yes, I do believe life is better when you have some other hobby/interest going.  Glad you are now with the whirled crew of itopspin.com.

Thanks to the both of you! :)
I believe it was Blithen, I could be wrong though. I didn't post all that much. Haha, I was more of a lurker so if you don't remember me no hard feelings. ;)

And that's another reason I was reading and justified the price, I remember my Bearing King just being BEATEN to crap, and I winced everytime I dropped it haha. And I saw a video how insanely long they can spin so I'm sure I'll be in love soon enough.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I've always loved the top community. :) I'm excited to get back to doing my favorite trick The Corkscrew. :D
I remember fondly one day me and a buddy were downtown and he was doing yoyo tricks(he's rather good if any of you are into yoyos he's known as Beverchakus in the yo world) anyway, and I was throwing my top and as soon as I did the corkscrew that's all anyone ever cared about. It's suprising how that trick is such a crowd pleaser haha.

Finally got a video together and I didn't want to spam the forum, so I just posted it here instead of making a new topic.
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/GqEvejYMg3A" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="bbc_link bbc_flash_disabled new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/GqEvejYMg3A</a>
Really botched together, but you get the idea. :P
Still getting used to the Giulia

Looks great Blithen! 8)

Your throw looks very smooth and controlled and often times that is the biggest challenge when players are getting used to the Giulia.

Spin on!  ;)

Good idea posting the video. If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video must be worth a million.

It looks to me that the string is a little short and the wrap finishes too low on the top.  If you used a longer (or thicker) string you could probably throw harder.

That is a great top, enjoy it!

howdy
If a picture is worth a thousand words,
eh eh ! that remains to be proved ;)

that said it's cool that you post a vid: good progress, you could now throw harder , pulling back higher than you do
the soundtrack is "insert word" muzak ?
