Jeremy: do what I explained 3 messages above. Basically, after you upload the image, you go to imgbb (by clicking on the image in the preview) and grab the direct link to the full image, which you replace for the cropped image link.

Hmmm, tried that, but maybe I did something wrong. Can you give a complete example with an imgbb photo and the exact code?

Sizing photos
« Reply #33 on: March 17, 2021, 06:26:32 PM »

Say, what kind of link did you ask for when you uploaded that photo to ibb? My photos are usually too big, and the "width=800 height=450" attributes don't seem to help.
When you upload a photo to ibb there is an icon with a pencil that you can use to edit the size of the image BEFORE uploading it:

I recommend the maximum dimension not bigger than 800 pixels.

Good tip. Then what kind of link do you ask for? There are at least 8.

You can either select the BBcode under Embed Codes => Full Image (linked) or, what I do, simple right-click on the image, copy the url of the image and link it as any other image.

To embed Instagram videos, copy the link and put it in this form:

Code: [Select]
https://www.instagram.com/p/CW3fxmkL5MD/
For example, if it has the /tv/ after instagram.com, replace it by /p/

If the original link says /reel/ this trick will embed the image of the video, but you will still have to watch it on Instagram.

Installed a patch so now youtube shorts will embed directly. Just enter the address:

Code: [Select]
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/g7her429xxc
Also added support for Instagram reels, for start time on youtube videos and for pdf display.

 And again I am having the problem of not knowing how to link to a youtube video without showing a screenshot.
How did I do it here? Or did you edit my post that time ta0?

I don't recall if I edited your post. But currently if you don't put the www. in front of youtube, it won't embed the video.

This doesn't embed video:
Code: [Select]
[url=http://youtube.com/watch?v=ckFUpKy82Qg]-video-[/url]
This embeds video:
Code: [Select]
[url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckFUpKy82Qg]-video-[/url]
As a last resort, you can always use the code instruction as I did above (the # button above the editing box) to stop something from running.

Code: [Select]
[code]Something[ /code]

You are correct I think, ta0. Here is my way I found more or less efficient to get to that result:
With the "toggle View " in WYSIWYG mode you make use of the "Insert hyperlink" button and insert the link to the youtube video as you would insert any other link to another post or to some external website.
When you have done that press "toggle view" to change the mode. Now you see the codes as ta0 wrote them in the  post before this and you can edit them by deleting the " www. " in front of "youtube".
Does that make sense does that work for anybody else?

Edit : there is a further complication in getting the correct youtube URL for this task I found: If you right click in a video while watching it, you get the option to " copy the video URL". When doing this you get something  like

here there is no "www." to delete in front of "youtube", you need to take one step more to get to what you really need:
 enter that URL into the address line of the browser and hit enter. In that moment it changes to

Now you can copy this and bring it via the "insert hyperlink" button into the editing window of the forum. Only now you can do that "toggle view" business as described above.
