Biggest Top (old "world" record)
« on: November 22, 2011, 12:30:52 AM »

Dale Oliver forwarded me this info he got from a client:

Quote
LARGEST SPINNING TOP
A team of 25 workers from the Mizushima Plant of Kawasaki Steel Works in Okayama, Japan, created a spinning top measuring 6 ft.75 in [2m] tall and 8ft. 6.25 in diameter and weighing 793 lb. [360 kg]. They spun it for 1 hr 21 min 35 sec on November 3 1986.

That is in fact a huge top. Very impressive if it spun free.

I searched for further info on the internet and could not find anything. The same information is mentioned here as an entry on a 1998 calendar page. I guess it is not that surprising that there is not much information on the internet as web pages did not exist in 1986 . . . (how much has the world changed!)
