A Trapeze is when you turn the top on its side before you throw and pull straight up and then the top comes down and lands on the string.  There is also a side mount Trapeze where the top is thrown very much like a Boomerang but the top is held at an angle in your hand so that it comes back to you on its side and the the top lands on the string.

You can see examples of Trapeze and other tricks here, in one of my videos:

I remember 10 years ago when we had our first top festival in Miamisburg.  Don Olney showed me a merry go round and I thought it was the most amazing thing.  I thought to myself "if I could just learn that trick I will die a happy man".

Hang with it runBMC.  Every day you work with the trick it will seem easier and easier and soon you will be stunned to know you can do both the merry go round and the figure eight very smoothly.

i figured out why its messing up, i saw this kid on a spintastics video doing a roller coaster and i tried to mnimic the way he did that trapeze, well ive been doing it wrong. i wraped a complaete circle around my top when trieing a trapze from my hand resticting it to come off the string. :o
