Quote
Package: each standard set will include 2 spin tops (one from Alien’s team, one from God’s team), an on-box arena, 2 stick controllers, 1 guide book and 1 comic book. The other 8 designs from the two teams will be sold separately, as well as Gravity Controllers and Space Arena.

Mmm, should I pick God´s team? Would the Alien team have any chance?   >:D
I generally go for the underdog . . .  (but not tomorrow in the Copa America  ;) )

Good for the Vietnamese toy industry. As always, great find Zeemo! However, when I read the subject I imagined a robot whipping a top or even one doing drumbeat!!!!  :o

You can now buy the tops on Ebay from a vendor from Vietnam (shipping is $18 for one box with two tops, $20 for two boxes, not bad). Search for Tosy Toop.

I like this video:

EDIT: According to the seller, all the boxes he has contain: "One Devil Top (Ice Nebulae) and One God Top (God of Hell)."  :D

I tried the Toop top from Tosy.  The character I got was the Frozen Nebular, part of the Alien series (the bad guys).

It is an interesting top.  As other motorized tops, it has a motor that creates a torque between the outer shell and the internal rotor and makes them spin in opposite directions.  But, to work as a top, one section has to have a larger rotational moment than the other so they don't cancel each other. On other motorized tops the friction of the tip slows down the outer shell and the internal rotor wins. Interestingly, on the Toop top it is the outer shell which out spins the innards.  This is accomplished by the air drag using the pair of blades that stick on the topside and are connected to the rotor.

I did not get the set of two with the battle arena, so I cannot talk too much about its play value compared to Beyblades (Don?).  But one drawback it has is that each top requieres 4 AAA batteries.   It does spin well on the hand and the stroboscopic effect of the blades against the illuminated body is a plus.

The set is here, and like all good collectors, I will have to lower the value and open up the package and give them a try.  Looks like a good grandchildren item, which will probably lower the value even more???????????

I got a couple of these as well, didn't get the set though, probably should have. Should make for some interesting pictures if nothing else.. and they seem to drive my dog completely insane, which is fun.. though it doesn't speak to their longevity.

I am sure that is bound to change.  I would be surprised if it hasn't already happened by this time next year.

That Vietnamese company seems to have a very good marketing and public relations department.  They even got Guinness to create a category for longest spinning "electronic" tops!  I suspect (a wild guess) that they may have some deep-pocketed (and/or well-connected) Western (probably US) backer.

For some odd reason, it took me a while to find where we talked about this game Toop.

Anyways, we got it out last night at our youth night activities and played it for a while.  It really is kind of fun.  I will bring it to worlds so we can play it when I need to rest my legs.  I predict that there will be a lot of kids wearing out my batteries.

When we were just about done we realized you can not only play with the tops from above (with your magnet wand) but also from the bottom (underneath the arena).  Another interesting feature is when you stack one on top of another.
