What tip is this BK
« on: December 02, 2010, 03:25:35 PM »

I was just watching this video and I was wondering if anyone knew what metal tip is on this bk? I saw another post about modding with a spintatics tip, but they're sold out of the one that that link was about. Does anyone know? I'm not a huge fan of the duncan plastic tips but I like the bk top, I'd love to have a metal tip on it.
Thanks,

I believe Pulp has made metal tips for his BKs.

yeah, what video?

I kinda like Duncan's plastic bearing tip - it will last quite a while because it does not need to retain it's pointy-ness to stay functional.  For fixed tip, on the other hand, one drop on concrete and the point is pretty much useless.

Oops, this video
[/youtube

the tip just feels rather slick and therefore squirly and less forgiving. Maybe as I get better it won't matter but it's nice to have a good point that hits the hand and doesn't try to run away from me. I actually sharpened the tip on my Ripcord and I had a lot of fun with it, I gained a lot of control and was able to throw it under my leg etc.

Yes,
That's Pulp alright.
The point looks somewhat like a Spintastics ball bearing Grande Trompo point designed to fit a Duncan R~C.
Earlier in this forum someone did ask the question if a Spintastics bearing point would fit in a Duncan R~C or not.

The spintatics bearing tip is showing unavailable from spintastics. Are their any other options?

The Spintastics bearing tip will not work well in a RC or BK
The S8 tip works great... sometimes.  The recess for the bottom bearing is too large sometimes, because some colors of dye cause the polycarb to shrink less than others.  The S8 tip is awesome as a fixed tip in a RC.  S8 tips are a little scarce at the moment...

cool, if you get some s8 tips available please let me know. I have a clear BK, but I can use my white ripcord if it fits better.

I put an S8 tip in my BK, and it seems to hang up a bit when spinning in hand.  I think it may be rubbing where the tip and top meet, but I haven't quite got it sorted yet.

Anyone elso done this with better luck?

I do like the results, but would love to get a little freer spin in bearing mode...

I tried two colors, one... I forgot  :-[ and the other one clear.  It worked better in the clear, but did not spin as freely as it does in a Giulia.  What color did you try it in?

Ja. That is my tip. The metal is steel with a hardening treatment.

It was made by a professional mechanist for no money. :D

But I'd prefer a groove with a different shape. The hardness of the BK body is the best. A driller and some diamond files and you can do your "do it yourshelf" miracle.
