2025 Online Contest
Re: 2025 Online Contest
We have over 50 competitors registered so far. Generally there are several last minute registrations, so I'm hoping to reach 70.
We finally have enough women for that division to happen.
In the artistic division we have teams of 1, 2 and 3 members.
Aperino, the spinning top graphics artist, has agreed to be a judge in the artistic division. The judges of that division are Jun, Jim and Aperino. You can send me other suggestions. I'm looking for people with an artistic background, specially in performance arts.

The videos are up for watching!
Go to the list of competitors and click on the names. If there is no link, we didn't receive the video.
Whoever, we are trying to confirm that we didn't miss any videos that people tried to send to us, so there could be some additions today.

Re: 2025 Online Contest
Of those seven great videos, two are clearly my favorites. But between those I find it hard to decide whom I want to win. I think it is really good to have this division!

Re: 2025 Online Contest
I re-uploaded the video (and replaced it above) as by mistake I erased the Maestros del Trompo routine on one of my last edits. I took advantage to correct a couple of other things.
PS: The video is blocked in Russia and Belarus due to restrictions put by the owners of the music in some of the clips.

The results page is ready on the ITSA site: https://spintops.org/2025-world-online-results/
The 3 best Open freestyles
Jun:
Yahir:
Takumi:
Jun's freestyle was more relaxed than in the past, but still full of tricks perfectly synchronized to the music. Very nice to watch.
Yahir's freestyle was his usual style, 3 minutes of tricks without stop, some quite difficult and no errors.
Takumi's freestyle had a ton of original tricks, not afraid of pushing the envelope even if he misses some.
It was a very competitive year: the three players were selected first by more than one of the 8 judges: Jun 2 times, Yahir 3 times and Takumi 3 times.
(of the original 10 freestyle judges, Guillem and Gus couldn't score the routines for personal or work related reasons.)
Takumi was one of the few players to use both koma and spintop in his routine. Quiz: who else did?

Re: 2025 Online Contest
Answer to the quiz : it could be Hector from los lobos
now a few comments about the artistic performances
it was very tight between Aborigen ( why this name ?) and you&night&whisky(cool title matching the soundtrack)
What I liked in the Aborigine performance was the fact that they do very difficult tricks and use all the props present in the frame it's like a building work based on spinning tops I would have called this routine marinellos working on the shore
as for Nagano it is technically masterd but also poetic :there is an atmosphere ....
it maybe lacks a bit of content compared to a straight freestyle routine
Maestos del trompo filmed from too far , but we understand the "intention" the concept behind the routine (circus mood, costumes ,big suspenders etc )
Rocco could (should) have competed in the normal open division
Los lobos fun and inspired
I give them a special award, considering the young age and the" eye if the tiger " intro
chonkake : with all respect to the gentlemen,
they miss the point...we should explain more the objective of this division
2025 Mexico
2026 Japan
2027 France ?
