June 9th is national Earl Day!!!

Post by the Earl of Whirl »

How have I missed this over the years? I am posting this in 2025 so every year I can come back to this thread and celebrate this great day!!! I have only a few hours left to celebrate but I will be ready to get the full 24 hour experience next year.

From the NationalCalendar.com:
Each year on June 9 we celebrate National Earl Day to honor those legends named Earl. While the name is becoming uncommon these days, those who have the privilege of being named Earl deserve a shout on today.

Congratulations to our Earl, the unique e inimitable The Earl of Whirl! Without a doubt a legend!

According to the site it started to be celebrated in 2019, so you only missed a few years.

Thanks for that insight. I feel a little bit better. I wonder if Earl Scruggs or Earl Campbell celebrate the day? Definitely the Earl of Sandwich does not celebrate it, as he has been gone for several hundred years. Oh, and now there is the restaurant chain with the title of Earl of Sandwich. But really, I believe all Earls bow down to the greatest Earl of all. We had this one guy who threw up after every race in cross country. Someone (sadly it was not me) came up with the greatest nickname of all for him - the Earl of Hurl!!!

In case you are thinking about moving this thread to the dreaded NSTR, I am working on a series of Earl related tops and will report back very soon about my progress.
