Post by ta0 »

The World Online Contest is on!

I look forward to the new division, Artistic Showcase. We'll see what people come up with. I can see players teaming up in Japan, Mexico, Mallorca, and specially Italy.

I hope we have many entries for the Open. The contest in Mexico will probably need prelims, maybe even 2 rounds. Those who finish relatively well on the online contest will automatically qualify for the finals.

I restored the spintops.org website with a backup from a month ago. But I need to reconstruct the 2025 online page and registration. Give me a few days. I'm sorry about the inconvenience.

The registration is working again. If you tried to registered and you couldn't, or if you didn't get a confirmation email, please try again.

I added a page with the players registered so far:

Don't be shy. I specially look forward to teams registering for the artistic division. Jun has volunteered as a judge for this division and I think Jim from Paris should be another judge.

well said ! I ' d be glad to be part of the judges

the basic/minimum A P consists of a duo
doing more or less synchronized tricks

we did that with Lapin for various tv shows
example here

that was over 15 years ago

today in the yoyo artistic performance
its the same set-up pushed to its an outstanding level in technical skills and choregraphy

example here , starting at 22.30 mn

https://www.arte.tv/fr/videos/123363-00 ... 3363-000-A

now the field is wide open for other creations

bye for now

Thanks, Jim.
It's nice to see again that TV show with Lapin and you. Using Spintastics Blizzards! :o Old school even in 2008! :D

That yo-yo performance that you linked to, by Shu Takada (4x world champ 2A) and Naoto Okada (2x 4A), is incredibly good! By the way, Taka just posted that Takeshi Matsuura (7x 5A) and Hajime Miura (7x 3A, 1x 4A) have now a show together. I'm sure it's mind blowing!

I have added Spanish and Japanese translations of the rules (thanks, Jun).

We have 5 countries registered so far (Mexico, Japan, USA, Canada and Spain), and 2 "teams" for artistic.

We have somebody from Costa Rica (6 countries so far). I hear we will soon add France. I'm sure we will get Italy and Colombia too.
Artistic already has one team and 2 individuals.
Youth division is all Mexican so far (but it will be very competitive).
What we need is women to make that division happen.

A month left for the registration deadline plus an extra week to upload the video.

We have 21 players registered so far (https://spintops.org/world-contest/2025 ... mpetitors/).
We still need women to have that division.
Consider entering the artistic division. That one is going to be a lot of fun.

One month left until the video submission deadline of June 1st!

We currently have 25 players from 7 countries registered.

PS: I'll be traveling the last 2 weeks of May, so if you want to receive your official confirmation, it's better that you register now instead of waiting for the registration deadline (May 26th).

The deadline is only 2 weeks away.

We have 34 players registered so far, with a very strong Youth division with great Japanese and Mexican representations.

The Women division so far has only two players. We need at least 5 to make it happen.

I would like more players on the artistic division. You don't need to be an advanced player, just have an artistic flair. This is the first year we have it. I'm sure it will get more competitive in future years, so this is your opportunity! Unleash your creativity!
