Forum outage this past days
Forum outage this past days
I'm very sorry that the forum was out for more than 2 days.
It appears that some scripts had been introduced that were loading the server.
I hope everything is working fine now.
I thought about starting to use phpBB instead of smf as forum software, but after trying for a while I could not migrate all the data correctly.

Haha. I found out because I was going to post some of my progress, and it said I was unauthorized. Good to see it’s an us thing and not a me thing

Re: Forum outage this past days
It seems to be back of after the latest outage, very good!
But not everything is working as usual: I tried to post in a different topic, but the post needs to be approved by an administrator I am told.
Maybe at the moment we can only look at the content posted before Monday the 24th of march???

Re: Forum outage this past days
Hi everybody
I'm very sorry for the new outage. I had to port the whole forum to a new software (from smf to phpBB). The old forum kept been compromised by hackers to use the server to run cron jobs (basically using the server for their own purposes, nothing related to our community but severely loading the server). Unfortunately, the smf software hasn't been updated in 1 year and it seems to have some backdoor.
Conversion was not easy, the tools available are outdated. There may be some things not working correctly yet. In addition, I'm new to this forum software and need to learn how to administrate it correctly and look at the best plug ins to add.
Ortwin: I'll look into that. You should be able to create a new post.

You should be able to create new posts now.
I think the forum is mostly working. Try it! The forum is more powerful than the old one but it works a little differently.
Unfortunately, the files previously attached to the posts are not showing, except the most recent ones. I'll try to fix this.

I hope to restore the old file attachments soon.
Now I'm having a problem with spintops.org (ITSA's site). This is due to a serious error I made while experimenting with the forum conversion on that domain. This never ends . . .
I asked my daughter Sierra to help me as she is a pro.

Greetings!
I believe there is an SSL error which is causing popups about information being submitted insecurely. Is this new after the forum migration?

All the attachments are back.
Now I need to work on spintops.org

Some members (perhaps many) might be having trouble logging because of problems transferring the passwords when we migrated the forum. If you cannot reset the password and log in, please send me an email to "top_@_ta0.com" (remove the underscores). I'm sorry for the problem.
Reset of passwords
As most passwords didn't migrate with the forum, you will need to reset yours when trying to log in for the first time to this new forum. Use the "I forgot my password" to be emailed a link to update your password. If you have a problem, send me an email or text and I will fix it.

Yippee!!! I am back on the forum. I have not been able to get on for quite some time. I thought I was banned. I was wondering what I did?!?! Thanks for fixing things for me, ta0!!!
