A nice video from some youngsters

These videos were found by Zenith and posted on pulpo's forum. They are from Chihuahua, Mexico. On the first one the players used Cometa tops but on the second one they used Trompos Space tops (from the aknowledgements I think Gerardo sent them the tops after seeing that one). On the second one (that is more advanced) there seems to be several references to top videos by other people (Salvador, Ritter, etc.) and from the mix of styles I think that is the way they learned. They also have some tricks and variations of their own.

It is nice to see a girl playing, and she is pretty good.
And the "impossible" trick (by Aaron?) is a difficulty whip.

I suppose it should not be a surprise due to some distractions of these videos (you know like the fancy edits between tricks and players and some shaking camera work and ... uhh ... yah just those ) that no one commented on Aaron's (?) consistent left handed throw of a righty wound top and subsequent transfer of the string button to his right hand to perform tricks.

Also in the first video, do you think that Cristian's (?) near kick save at about 3:45 was an intentional trick attempt or a nice reflex action to a drop? I've frequently reaction toe-kicked dropped tops but rarely caught it after.

Good that you pointed out that, John. It is extremely curious. The only explanation I can think of, is that he is ambidextrous and learned to throw the boomerang by himself, but wrapping it the wrong way. When he discovered that standard tricks need the reverse wrap he had the idea of just changing hands after the throw, instead of re-learning the boomerang. Still, very strange!

My guess is that Christian just tried to improvise a save on that kick.
