Re: Top collection for sale

The Giulia was bought from a forum member. If my feeble brain remembers correctly I got it from Neff. He may know about the color.

Top collection for sale

It has been quite a while since I have visited this forum. Arthritis has kept me from playing with some of my toys. I recently discovered a box containing my modest top collection while cleaning out a closet. I would like to see them go to someone who will enjoy them.I am asking $80.00 for ...

Re: Origami Tops

I happened to catch this program last night on PBS. As cool as the top is, the one that amazed me was the dragon that the college student spent more than a hundred hours to fold. He definitely has more patience than I do.

Beginner's Progress

First off, let me say "thank you" to the folks who keep this forum running and for the willingness to help us beginners. This "senior citizen" is having a ball with tops. I have accumulated a few different kinds of tops- Gladiators, Ripcords and Trompo Grandes. So far, I'm having better success with ...

Re: Another Ripcord Drilling Method

Neat-I love your method.-But I must ask, does it make the top work better? Spin longer? ???

I wish I could answer that question. I have four Ripcords. Two modified and two not. I'm just beginning top spinning and have gotten to the stage of successful boomerang landings. I know from reading ...

Another Ripcord Drilling Method

After getting a few Ripcords and reading the posts on the forum, I decided to modify a couple of them as others have done. Not having a lathe, I looked for another way. I used an inexpensive table-top drill press that I borrowed from a friend. Friends with a cheap drill press are more common than ...

Re: Ripcord Points

There were three of us who went to Phoenix ( I had a doctor's appointment ) and we did a little shopping in "the big City". We bought the last of the Ripcords the toy store had and the packaging was torn open on most of them. Only two of the packages contained the extra point. The store clerk gave ...

Ripcord Points

I picked up some Ripcords from a toy store in Phoenix a week or two ago. I gave a couple to the kids next door and they are having a lot of fun but they have managed to mangle the plastic points. Does anyone have any of the plastic replacement points you would be willing to part with?

Re: New Tops

taO- Thank you. I just grabbed a Gladiator, wound it and found the string was too short. Maybe it's a little thinner than the one you are using. Using another string I wound it to the second groove (21 wraps) and I got a vertical landing. Yay!! Now to work out the rest of the bugs that us beginners ...

Re: New Tops

Thank you all for your help. I know there are folks here who recommend and use the Gladiator. For a reference, could someone tell me how many wraps of string they use on their Gladiator? With the standard string that came with the top, I have 19 full wraps consistently. Just looking for a starting ...

Re: Gladiator Tips

I didn't really think about a particular diameter when I did these. I was just going by pictures I had seen here on the forum of different points others had done. My ruler says that the "waist" is about 3mm. I don't have a caliper to measure more precisely. The next ones I'll try to keep at 4mm. I ...

New Tops

My first order from Spintastics arrived. I got several Gladiators along with some strings and extra points. I'm practicing my throw and it's getting much smoother and less dangerous for innocent bystanders. When I throw a spinner, the top lands on the point but it leans quite a bit. Any advice on ...
