If Iacopo cannot get clear results, the effect is more subtle that I would have expected for a toy. But both on the patent and on the packaging it explicitly says that "slowly the bottom tip will draw down to the spinning surface".

I also saw some linear movement, specially on one side of the ring (it has fallen a few times), what is clearly vibration induced worm-like movement. My results were also not definite, but the pseudo-precession was quite consistent and convincing. The lowering of the tip was less convincing.
