I've collected and made a LOT of tops.  This is the best collection of pictures (and videos)  I've ever seen, and after about 45 min of viewing, I've only seen three of mine.... a penny top, a swirlaround, and a whirligig!  Thanks!

Dani Miras from the Amics de la Baldufa created the group pool for spinning tops on Flickr. It almost has 2000 pictures and it is an amazing resource. I have first found out about many aspects of top spinning around the world from that group. I still have to upload any photos to Flickr but my photo is already there thanks to Spin Queen  :-*

Don: there are many pictures of your tops, but you will need a few days to go through them . . .

I was humored by the top spinning "graffiti".  We need some graffiti like that around Miamisburg!!!

Do you mean this one?

That mural seems to be from Brazil, and that gives me an idea. Maybe you can get together with the Miamisburg beautifying commission and hire Titi (Hamilton Yokota) to do some graffiti around town (that will include some tops, of course!). He is a highly regarded international graffiti artist (www.tfreak.com) so perhaps you can overcome the Miamisburg historic preservation society objections  . . .  ::)

And the best part is that you will be able to throw tops together  ;)

I just added the 42 pics I have on Flickr from my 2002 display at the American Association of Woodturners convention in Rhode Island.  Doing this put the total pics over 2000! --- 2008 as of now!

Don, were the Estes "Little Brownie Tops" something you could spin and eat? :

That is a great contribution to the Flickr spintop group.

Brownie tops were not edible.  4 small wooden finger spinners in 4 different colors.  The little round box is wooden also!  Brownie was a very popular little character associated with the Brownie Camera from Kodak.  An early version of today's very common product related characters - and character related products! http://www.brownie-camera.com/

I do have a very old glass top with a screw on metal and wood lid / top launcher system that held colorful tiny candies that were sort of like "sprinkles".

I added some of mine a while back.  This set is a great collection of so many neat top pics and some really fine (read: artistic) photos too!  Keep 'em comming.

I was delighted to find two Watts' Tops in the vast display.  They were some of my first ones made.  What a great collection and I only got started. :)
