Throwing a big display top
« on: May 08, 2021, 02:52:55 PM »

After successfully spinning the clay flower pots, I got the courage to spin the hand-painted top I got from Wilson at worlds 2019.

No tops were hurt while filming this video.   >:D

Now it's going back to the display shelf.  ;)

I guess you wear those gloves because of the fear of sweaty hands from the fear to break the top?
You prepared the garden with wood shavings, just to make the ground softer?

I would pierce my foot with that thing!  Wirewalker would be fatal...

ta0, for this extraordinary act of valor in the throwing of irreplaceable tops of great fragility, I hereby award you the Croix du Toupie...

Since the medal is itself a top, and since recipients seem prone to bouts of questionable judgment, the Croix du Toupe is easily put back together after accidental disassembly.

Just don't expect any kisses on the cheek when it's pinned on your chest.

Wow! It's a great honor to receive the Croix du Toupie!
It will be spun to the best of my ability.

I was so worried about the top that I didn't think about my feet. But now that you mention it . . .

I guess you wear those gloves because of the fear of sweaty hands from the fear to break the top?
The glove on the left hand was to protect the paint, but the main purpose of the one on the right hand was to protect the skin of the palm from that tip  ::)

That was a good attempt.  What you are not telling us is what you REALLY did after this.  We know you better than you realize.  Our experience has shown that you cannot help but try again....and again....and again......and...

You do know me well, Earl. But I came to the conclusion that a cat in gloves catches no mice. I will need to grind and polish the end of the tip so that I can catch it with my bare hand without shredding the skin. It's a good excuse to leave it on the shelf for now and enjoy that it's still pristine.  ;)

The tip or top does not worry me. All my tops work. No dust collection. Do you have COVID?

Rough tips do chew up my hand and I have some pretty decent callouses there.  I applaud your restraint.  We don’t want to see your hand cut up from sharp edges on that tip!!!
