Dyed Delrin 3" OWB
« on: September 24, 2020, 04:39:54 PM »

Finally developed a good process for making a OWB top on my little metal lathe.
Outer diameter is close to 3", weight ended up at 103 grams total.
It looks beautiful.  Plays quite well as-is, but it seems like the OWB needs to break in a bit and then it'll play perfectly.  I ended up needing to use some press fit compound (it's a liquid that expands and provides just a little extra holding power) on the OWB.  The delrin is so slick that, even though the OWB has some resistance sliding in, it doesn't grip quite as much as I wanted, so that's something to be aware of.  The bearing should still be able to be pushed out if needed, but you'll either need to buy some press-fit compound (about $15) or put a dab of superglue on the side of the bearing to give it the grip it needs when you put it back in.  Alternately don't mess with the bearings and don't worry about it!  ;D
How about $100 shipped within in the U.S?  I can ship outside of the U.S., but you'll have to cover the shipping.

Very nice! Well worth $100 even without the OWB (I do not care for OWB).
