I like this video (I think filmed before I got to the festival):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dllJdzBedQo

Attila's friend does the first throw. She was doing pretty good by the end of the festival.
You can see two of the tops I bought from Rocco: the "laughing" top at 0:07 and the "globe" top at 0:58 (but just the end of the spin).
Notice that the top on the Hollandaise Table at 0:10 was spun upside-down.

Nice video!

Interestingly, the end of the room with the stage is a dead ringer for the one in Marines. Makes me wonder if French community centers of a certain age had some design elements in common? The ceiling may be different, though.

The Loon-Plage is a more modern, bigger and nicer facility. It even has some lodging facilities attached that we used. It looks new, but I was told that the city plans to update it, so it should be even better for the next festival in 2022.  8)

Although it could not be used for the competition, Loon-Plage had the world's biggest Beyblade arena officially certified:

It's made out of a satellite dish. Ludo's youngest daughter, Sham, used it to make a call:

Did you notice the spintop earring?  >:D

Emmanuel made these giant finger tops. The purpose was only as decoration, but I'm sure they would spin. But they may be somewhat fragile, so we did not want to risk them.

Emma, Ludo and Mermouy, with friends and family, have made so many wonderful and creative decorations for these festivals!  8) 8) 8) Of course, that also means a lot of work setting up and disassembling. My hat off to them.

This is a bicycle driven lathe, where the customer has to provide the power to make his own top. This was inspired by Le Cyclotour de Jean-Dominique Denis. I believe Denis visited a previous festival. It's great how the festival keeps incorporating the new spintop modalities that the different guest bring over the years.

The targets from Rocco:

By the way, there were at least 5 working lathes on the floor.

Xisco and Celso making string on the Spanish table:

Behind is the Magyar (Hungarian) table.

It was great to have the sound system of the venue (plus two giant projection screens and stage lights). It added to the ambiance (and the Colombians could not do a demo without background music  ;D ). Here Richard from Colombia leads some dancing:

salut jorge and the company

very good video ! it seems that the editor/camera man got the feel of gyroscopic waves !

about the venue in Loon : "nothing comes out of nothing"

it's located less than 5 miles from the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in Gravelines
https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centrale_nucl%C3%A9aire_de_Gravelines

to give you an idea :
Reactors
Fournisseurs    Areva NP, Alstom
Type    REP
Réactors actifs    6 x 900 MW
Puissance nominale    5 400 MW
Production d’électricité
Production annuelle d'électricité    31 200 GWh (2016)1
Production moyenne    37 610 GWh (5 dernières années)
Production totale    1000 TWh

in a word , the city of Loon benefits from huge subventions linked to the power plant

in Marines it's totally different : it's a rural village with a very small/tight budget, part of it dedicated to sports and culture

all in all , after a quick feedback with  Ludo : both festivals have been a true success, but 2 in a row has revealed really exhausting ...
big 5 stars cheers for Mermouille ,Emmanuel,Dorian,Sham ,Ludo , Karine and all the group revolving around tops and kites

work in progress
next year we plan a venue in Paris in addition to Marines
it will hopefully take place in the museum of fair ground attractions, with the help of the musée des arts décoratifs (who has a section specialised in toys)...wheel see what the wind does, with the votes for a new city mayor of paris in march

spin on  >:D

Nuclear reactor, eh? You know, a miniaturized version of the plutonium oxide RTGs (radionuclide thermoelectric generators) NASA uses to power spacecraft would make a great onboard power source for all kinds of cool top-borne gizmos. And no batteries to change for at least 14 years!

Of course, you'd have to forego the shielding to get a decent critical speed (not to be confused with critical mass).>:D

Wow,that venue in Paris would be fantastic!

Yeah. Loon-Plage is a misnomer: there is no longer any access to the beach or even a view of the sea. It has been cordoned off by industry  :( The closest beach is in Dunkerque, 18 minutes away.
Having a festival in Paris proper would be great, specially for public attendance. But Marines is quite convenient to access from CDG airport: for 2 euros you take a nice bus with space for luggage from the terminal that takes you to Cigy, which is 10 minutes from Marines. Taking the train from the airport to the center of Paris is 10 euros.

At both Marines and Loon-Plage there was a spinning top puzzle table:

This is a creation of Dorien. Each tangram has the shape of a different spinning top. They were not easy. There also 3-D models of these tops made out of cork. In addition, there were 3 different mechanical puzzles in which you had to liberate a top. Great fun!

If you were interested in seeing turning in person, there were lots of opportunities. Besides Armin (first time he turns in public), Kostas and Rocco, there was Paul Peeters from Belgium. He had a lathe and a sign that for 6 euros a kid could turn his own top. Here is a video turning and helping a kid turn:

Also present, Denys Losfeld, "Le Tour et Jouets". His booth:

Also Christophe Anquez, "Au Fil du Bois":

One morning we had a live band to start the day (notice the 3D printed behind):

This is all so unbelievable!!!  I cannot get over all the displays and decorations and turners and clever top related items!!!  Who is the mastermind behind all of this?  Whoever it is deserves an Oscar or some kind of outstanding award from the top spinning world!!!

It was a pity Guillem (Guillermo Vizcaino) felt sick and missed over a day of the festival. He is an amazing player. Here a some behind the back continuous trapezes:

As a bonus, throwing two solid tops he made with one hand:
