Diabolo Style Strummol8 Tips
« on: June 12, 2019, 10:40:37 AM »

A project I've been wanting to do for a while has been to make a diabolo style tip for my Giulia top.  It turned out really well and I'm willing to make more for anyone that wants one (or more).  They're made out of stainless steel and are OWB compatible.  They'll be made to order, so there will be a lead time for me to make them before orders ship.  I'm thinking $25 plus shipping.  Send me a message if you're interested.

I'd like to have a diabolo style bearing tip for a QSH.  Does anyone out there make them?

I have the ability to make it, but don't have a bearing QSH to see how it's connected.  If someone could get me some photos and some precision measurements on the shaft then I can put one together.

I spoke to Maurizio briefly over e-mail and it sounds like he's planning on releasing a tip similar to this one at some point (not sure how soon), so it may be an option in the near future!

I took apart my QSH (tip was coming loose and need info on making a new cap) and think I've got all the info I need from that, though I've been slow about making the Strummol8 tips so I can't say I'm available to make a new one yet.

For those waiting for the strummol8 tips, sorry for the wait.  I've needed to tool up for the project and have had other things taking up my time (family reunions and such).  I'm also in charge of leading a youth group on a summer campout (similar to a scouting high adventure camp) in a couple of weeks, so I'll try to get those made soon, but no guarantees.

Those look great! Are you going to make more? I’d like at least one.

Yep, they’re made to order, so if you want one just send me a message.  It took me a little while to get the kinks sorted out, which is part of the reason it initially took me so long to get the first ones done hopefully I’ll have a faster turn around time for any other orders that come in.

I'm moving on to other turning projects and will no longer be making these tips.  I hope that everyone who's received one (or more) has enjoyed them/ will continue to enjoy them.  I chatted with Mauritzo and he is planning on releasing a tip similar to this in the future, so anyone still wanting one will hopefully be able to purchase one of his soon.

Ha ha, the "hopefully" was a big part of that, but maybe "someday" would be better.  He didn't specify a timeline.
