Hello folks,
Today I finished painting this spin top.
Originally, it was from my grandfather. But it was unused lying in the basement..
It had no tip when I got it. So I made a tip out of a metal rod.
It already got painted by me , but I wanted to make it even better  :).
I actually wanted to paint poppy flowers on it, but I was unsuccessful.. So I took purple and black spray paint, and did both colors at once. It is a great effect when the colors can 'flow' into each other.
It was dry in one hour. And the spray paint is scratch and ding resistant!
I already gave it a name: Black Purple !
On the photo's you can see the end result and the 'spray booth'.

Behold... My latest 'paint creation'!
I found a 'acrylic pouring set' in a store, and after a few days, I decided to 'pour' colors over one of my wooden tops. (a top I once painted, but never had a purpose actually. It was the first top I've got from my grandfathers basement.)
I never done it before, but I'm so happy with the results! The fun part is, you never know what you will get. Even if you choose the colors. But the end result is stunning!
To fix the colors on my top, I used high gloss spray-varnish. Almost 5 times!
Now, my top feels and looks like it's made of glass. Sturdy glass that is. The varnish is ding and scratch free.

Another one is done today. But still needs to dry for at least 24 hours.
I'll post a picture once it's ready. Or I can show a sneak peek! A pic just after the pouring and while drying out.








This one's ready! Tomorrow I show them to my colleagues at work! I think about a name. Like Rainbow Warrior  ;D!
After the boat of Greenpeace. I still thinking. A name might pop up while I'm sleeping... That's when I got most of my ideas.




What do you folks think? Ever done acrylic pouring yourself?

Yes, try it, it's amazing! Just search on YouTube : 'acrylic pouring'. Most times it's on canvas, but some people take it to the next level and paint 3d objects!

Hello folks,
Another one is ready to spin! Formerly known as Black Chaos.
I think about calling this one 'Rainbow Warrior'. It has more well... Rainbow colors!
The other one was difficult to wrap a string around, because of the smoothness. But I succeeded! I just needed to hold the string down with a finger on the top's body , to keep it from sliding off.
With this top I cut off the paint of the  small 'gap' between the body and tip, so the string can 'grip' the top at the tip and doesn't slide off.
I'm very happy with the way they both turned out!  :D it's fun! And you never know how it will turn out. Only after the paint dries. Then it's fixed. The pattern may become different over  time while drying. With the last top, the blue became darker when dried. So, no two paintings (or tops) are the same!
Going to practice with these tops, with pride!  ;D.

Hello folks,

Yesterday I painted tops again. But I kept 2 tops unpainted. Like I said, I love the wood.
I want to make my tops more personal and give them a name. Painting is fun too!
One top represents a fox. I wanted to go from red to orange to white. should call it Foxy or Foxfire. The other metallic black/silver has my zodiac sign on it : Scorpio.
Can't wait to see the colors spin!
